Robert BERKLEY - deceased
    Robert M. Berkley II, president of Berkley Construction Co. home builders for 43 years, died Sunday (June 20, 2004) of complications from heart disease at his home in Ladue. He was 64. Mr. Berkley grew up in St. Louis and began working as a teenager for the family business, which was founded by his late uncle, Robert M. Berkley, more than 70 years ago. His late father, Charles Berkley, also worked for the company. Mr. Berkley began working for the company full time shortly after he graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and he became its president in 1961. His son, Robert M. Berkley III of Kirkwood, has managed the company for about 10 years. In addition to his son, among the survivors are his wife, Marjorie Berkley of Ladue; two daughters, Kimberly Berkley of Rock Hill and Kelly Ramsey of Ballwin; a stepdaughter, Cindy Abell of Chesterfield, a stepson, Bill Abell of Wildwood; a brother, Charles Berkley of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; a granddaughter; and three stepgrandchildren. Robert BROD - deceased
    Robert Allen "Bob" Brod, retired president of Brod-Dugan Co. and a longtime village trustee in Westwood, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) of cancer at his home in Westwood. He was 63. Born in St. Louis, Mr. Brod grew up working in the warehouse at Brod-D ugan Paint & Wallcovering Co., a paint and wallcovering distributorship founded in 1946 by his father, the late Harold Brod, and the late Nat Dugan. The business later became Brod-Dugan Co. Mr. Brod graduated in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and became a full-time salesman for Brod-Dugan Co. He was named president of Brod-Dugan at age 33. During his tenure, Mr. Brod saw the company grow to 13 stores, becoming one of the largest independent retailers of home decoration products in the St. Louis area. Most recently, Mr. Brod was president of Brod Properties LLC, a real estate management company in Clayton. In 1989, the Missouri Merchants and Manufacturers Association presented Mr. Brod with the Sweet Success Award for outstanding achievement. A leader in several industry organizations, Mr. Brod was a past president of Color Guild International, an international organization of independent paint manufacturers. The Color Guild presented him with the "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty" award in 1993 after he donated hundreds of gallons of paint to flood victims. Mr. Brod and his family sold Brod-Dugan Co. to Sherwin Williams in 1996. Mr. Brod served as an elected trustee for the Village of Westwood for more than 15 years and also served several years as village clerk. Mr. Brod was an instrumental supporter of the campaign that helped open The Wellness Community of Greater St. Louis. After his diagnosis with cancer, he became a participant in the Wellness Community's cancer support program. Among Mr. Brod's survivors are his wife of 34 years, Grace Rosenthal Brod of Westwood; a daughter, Jessica Brod of University City; a son, Christopher Brod of Boulder, Colo.; his mother, Myril Brod of Westwood; and a sister, Marlene Isaacs of Creve Coeur. Mimi HAMILTON Marvel - deceased
    MARY (MIMI) HAMILTON MARVEL,( 63), Mimi was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 1, 1939 and passed away January 28th, 2003. Mimi grew up in St. Louis, graduated from Ladue High School in 1957 and attended Stephens College, Columbia, MO. She enjoyed a successful career with City Bank/Boatman's Bank. In 1982, she married John (Jack) T. Marvel and began blending a large family of eight. In 1985 they moved to Brussels, Belgium where they enjoyed two magical years of travel and exploration. While Jack was on assignment with Monsanto, Mimi worked with the Brussels Chamber of Commerce. They later moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where they lived from 1988-94. In Baton Rouge, Mimi was an active volunteer board member with the Baton Rouge Symphony League. In 1994, they retired to Tucson, AZ where she also volunteered with several charity groups and served as an officer with the Welcome Wagon Club. All those who knew Mimi, will remember her for her delicious laughter, joyful spirit, extraordinary good taste and kind disposition. Mimi embraced life with a positive attitude and saw the good in all people and all things. Her seasoned soul and unique wisdom made her a counselor to many. Her children considered her to be not only a wonderful mother but also a dear friend. Mimi's greatest happiness was her partnership with her husband, together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure and unconditional love. Her parents, Charles F. and Helene G. Hamilton and her brother, Michael Hamilton preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, John T. Marvel; loving daughters, Elizabeth (Gary) Archer, Leawood, KS, Anne (William) Holliday, Baton Rouge, LA, Kathryn (Scott) McKinzie, Tucson, AZ; brothers, Douglass M. (Nancy) Hamilton, Portland, OR, John (Mary) Hamilton, St. Louis, MO, Todd (Rhonda) Hamilton, Baton Rouge, LA; sister-in-law, Mollie Marvel, Tucson, AZ; stepsons, Scott T. (Felicia) Marvel, Dallas, TX, Chris (Sue) A. Marvel, Austin, TX, Carl Randall (Jennifer) Marvel, Coppell, TX; adoring grandchildren, Michael and Elise Archer, Jordan, Connor and Benjamin Holliday, Claire and Mary Henry (McKinzie), Reed and Brooke Marvel. I am also the subject of another oral history , with audio, at Washington University. A number of the oral histories I have done with Civil Rights & Peace activists are finally appearing in transcript at various web sites.

    I have become a flying NUT ! I own three airplanes, a vintage Boeing Stearman bi-plane, an aerobatic Pitts S2A Special, and a DC-3. Fly them to, and in air shows around the country. Flew in the Navy during Viet Nam, and now I fly for fun. Instructor pilot for 28 years, and love it.

    BONNIE JOLLY WEHRMEISTER, Precious mother, grandmother and wife, passed away from cancer, in her home, on April 2, 2004. She was born to Roy and Vera Oscarson on December 6, 1939. She was raised a true and proper princess in a family of 3 brothers (R. Don, G. Richard, Paul Oscarson) who adored her, in St. Louis, MO. She lived a life of infectious enthusiasm and cheerful disposition. Happy, grateful, creative, willing... ever spreading sunshine into the lives of all who knew her. She conquered her many trials in life with optimism and courage, and every joy with intense gratitude to her Heavenly Father. She had an overwhelming appreciation for things of nature, beauty and style. She loved daisies and tulips,... loved holidays, parties and balloons. She loved wearing flip-flops and feeling the ocean breeze on her face. She loved her family with every ounce of her being and let them know it every day of her life. She felt motherhood the greatest calling, and honor on earth. She made everyone around her feel special and important, and those who love her will forever be grateful for her example of faith, happiness and fun. She is survived by her three sons, Andy Jolly, Todd (Julie) Jolly, Jacob (Laura) Jolly; two daughters, Kristi (John) Worthington, Katy (Jason) Rees; 13 grandchildren; and husband, Thomas Wehrmeister.
